## Abstract A novel poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) macromer with a methacryloyl and sulfonic acid group at each end of the chain was prepared. Modified hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) based hydrogels were synthesized by crosslinking polymerization of HEMA in the presence of the above‐mentioned PEG ma
