New complexes of Nilkcontaining dihydrazones derived from dehydroacetic acid as primary ligands and ammonia or pyridine as secondary ligand were prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, conductance, spectral and magnetic data. The dihydrazones react with NiC12 in their enolic forms as bis-t

β¦ Synopsis
The structure of the hexaazamacrobicycle, sarcophagine, (diAMMEsar).2H20, formed by extracting Co ion from the [Co(diAMMEsar Hz)]C15HzO cage with 8hydroxyquinoline, has been determined by elemental analysis, and i.r., u.v.-vis., 1H-n.m.r. and mass spectroscopies. Two octahedral complexes, [M(diAMM-EsarH2)JC14.2HzO (M = Ni n or Cull), have been prepared and characterized. The e.s.r, spectrum of the Cu n complex in the solid state indicates spin-exchange interaction between the Cu n ions. However, in CD3OD-DzO (10%) at 77 K, the spectrum is characteristic of a compound having axial symmetry (dx2 y2 ).
