β¦ Synopsis
Monoclinic CuO nanoparticles were prepared by using a onestep solid state reaction method under ambient conditions. The CuO particles with an average size of 12 nm were pressed into pellets under high pressure. They were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray di4raction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and Raman spectroscopy. The CuO grains in pellets grow with time at room temperature. The gradual increase in the grain size with time is clearly re6ected in their Raman spectra and the XRD results. The correlation between the Raman spectra and the crystal dimension is discussed.

## Abstract In this article, amphiphilic starch nanocrystals were synthesized by graft copolymerization of starch nanocrystals with styrene in aqueous emulsion system. The starch nanocrystals of size around 50 nm were used, which were prepared by acid hydrolysis of corn starch. The structure of sta
Al 2 O 3 -TiO 2 composite oxide nanocrystals with different Al 2 O 3 /TiO 2 ratios (1/4, 2/3, 3/2, and 4/1) were prepared by the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) sol-gel method. The preparation process was monitored by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry (TGA-DSC). Nanocrysta
