โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Splenogonadal fusion limb defect syndrome (SGFLD) is a very rare abnormality. We report on a case with prenatal sonographic findings of a fetus with postnatally diagnosed SGFLD syndrome. This is also the second case of prenatal ultrasonographic diagnosis of gastrointestinal malrotation associated with SGFLD. A 26โ€yearโ€old primigravid woman was referred to our clinic because of nonvisualization of both fetal femoral bones at 20 weeks of gestation. A detailed sonographic examination showed complete bilateral absence of lower limbs, micrognathia, single umbilical artery and a rightโ€sided stomach. Autopsy confirmed prenatal sonographic findings and additionally showed that the spleen was abnormally connected to the left gonad by a fibrous band. In conclusion, although all limbs and both sides were equally affected in most of the reported cases, SGFLD syndrome should be considered in cases with terminal limb defects of lower limbs. ยฉ 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We describe the perinatal findings in a female fetus with megacystis-microcolon-intestinal hypoperistalsis syndrome (MMIHS). Prenatal sonography performed during 18-21 weeks' gestation showed a normal amount of amniotic fluid, but the fetus was seen to have a persistently distended stomach, a hugely

We determined the type and frequency of abnormal sonographic findings in 187 Down syndrome fetuses. Examinations were performed transvaginally or transabdominally between 9 and 28 weeks' gestation. Consecutive scans performed prior to knowledge of the fetal karyotype (n=144) were analysed separately

Limb reduction defect is a rare event but is found in eight per cent of fetuses affected by haemoglobin Bart's disease. We present a case of haemoglobin Bart's disease with terminal transverse limb reduction defects of all four limbs diagnosed by abdominal ultrasound examination at 12 weeks of gesta

Oral-facial-digital syndrome type II (OFP syndrome II; orofaciodigital syndrome II) is a rare autosomal recessive syndrome, first described by Mohr (1941). We present two sisters with Mohr syndrome from a consanguineous family. One is a three-day-old female patient, the other is 22-week-old fetus. P

De novo interstitial 16q deletion diagnosed in utero has not previously been reported. We present a case of fetal de novo interstitial 16q deletion associated with the sonographic findings of prominent coronal sutures, a prominent frontal bone, and shortening of the long bones. Genetic amniocentesis
