β¦ Synopsis
The collection of papers of this issue represents the high national and international reputation of Prof. Neumann as a scientist as well as the Editor-in-Chief of Crystal Research and Technology. Due to his high engagement for Crystal Research and Technology, the journal improved in many ways in quality and quantity: Between 1997 and 2008 the number of published manuscripts increased drastically and the Impact Factor of the journal could be doubled to 0.921. The average time between submission of papers and online publication could be reduced to about 50 days. The online publication of accepted manuscripts has been introduced as "Early View" in 2007. The press format was changed to A4 in 2003 and the fully electronic workflow of manuscripts started in 2008.
The Editors, the Editorial Board as well as the Advisory Board of Crystal Research and Technology, all his friends, colleagues and students wish Prof. Neumann further long-standing activities for the journal and also further years of good health.
I am quite honoured to work with him for so many years within an excellent cooperation and personal understanding of each other.
