โฆ Synopsis
An adaptation of the discrete transfer method for computing radiative transfer in combustion systems is described. The method is intended for use with finite difference schemes used in solving the conservation equations for turbulent reacting flows, and is based on recurrence relations derived from the spectral equation of radiative transfer. The form of these recurrence relations permits use of the exponential wide band model for predicting radiative transfer from gaseous species, as well as allowing the inclusion of radiative transfer due to soot. The method has been validated for mixtures of CO2, H20, and soot by comparing predictions with results derived from a narrow band statistical model of radiative transfer for a number of one-dimensional, nonhomogeneous systems.
