โœฆ Synopsis

Previous oxidation experiments with bituminous coal have produced fluorenone, benzophenone and anthraquinone carboxylic acids. Precursors to these acids were speculated to be fluorene, diphenylmethane, anthracene and 9,10-dihydroanthracene derivatives. Oxidation experiments suggested that polymethylene bridges between aromatic units may also act as precursors to these acids.
