On 27-29 May 1997 a conference on Preconditioned Iterative Solution Methods for Large Scale Problems in Scientific Computations PRISM'97 was held in Nijmegen.

Some of the papers presented at the conference were submitted to a special issue of Numerical Linear Algebra with Applications devoted to this topic and appear together with some related papers in this issue. The Proceedings volume includes all talks presented at PRISM'97 and is available from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Nijmegen.
