The complexmg properties (capaclty, pH effect, breakthrough curve) of the chelatmg resm Chelamme, contammg a pentamme hgand, were mvestlgated The resm was used m a column procedure for the preconcentratlon of Cd(II), Cu(II), Mn(II), Nl(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) from delomzed water and sea water and the recovenes were 93-105 and 91-102%, respecttvely The absolute blanks varied from less than 06 ng for Cd to 11 ng for 01, pernuttmg the determmatton of the above SLX metals m oceanic water The accaracy of the method was demonstrated by replicate analyses of the marme reference material CASS-2 The high selectnnty of the resin leads to low ~n~ntratlons of alkali and alkahne earth metal loons m the andlc eluate
