The emlsslon of fast neutrons by recoil protons (0 02-3 MeV energies) durmg the electrolysis of heavy water was studied experimentally usmg Iron, stamless steel, tltamum, titanium-vanadmm, platinum and palladmm cathodes Normal low-background measuring equipment was used (sensltlvity up to 3 x 10e4 B
By a large volume liquid scintillation detector and some other neutron and r-ray detectors the radiation obtained by the electrolysis of heavy water with a palladium cathode was measured. An indication is found for a weak generation of fast neutrons (0.1 s-l of about 2.5 MeV).
