✦ Synopsis
ing experiments, factorial and fractional factorial design at 2 and 3 levels and in sequence, and various approaches to optimisation. The text is designed as a workbook and proceeds through a series of explanations, worked examples, discussions and practical exercises (with brief answers). References and sources of additional assistance/explanation will be invaluable to the serious student. The author's aim was to give the reader a clear understanding of the scope and limitations of each procedure so as to be able to design their own relevant and economical experiments.
Given time and dedication no doubt, for some the author's aims will be achieved. Many others, who will now most usefully have picked up from the present text the importance and scope of the subject, will welcome a gentler, more dilute, expanded and larger print second edition. The present text, despite the carteat, is an important contribution to chemical education.
