✦ Synopsis
The practical problems of cryogenic magneto-optic apparatus involving vertical rather than horizontal light paths through the cryostat are discussed. These include obtaining bright, stationary illumination of the specimen," depolarization and stray reflections; condensation," bubble glare," and remote control of specimen alignment. Polarizer settings for television viewing are discussed, and a systematic setting-up procedure is suggested.
