I bought this book used hoping it would be a good addition to my reference libary. It did not cover the topics I was expecting. The first half of the text covered basic LAN technology, WAN technology and protocols. The remaning chapters went over a basic configuration of a cisco router right out of the box. Going only slighty more in depth than what can be done with the set-up help dialogue when you first power up. I am not at all saying this is not a good book, but it is aimed at someone with very little to no basic networking knowledge, and who has never seen a cisco router before. If you fit that description this will make a good read for you.
