## Abstract Fish are a virtually unique, rich source of omega‐3 long‐chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (Ο‰3 LC‐PUFA) in the human diet. This article describes the origins of Ο‰3 LC‐PUFA in fish and the increasingly important role of aquaculture in the provision of fish for human consumption. It also
