We welcome the derivation by Gulder and Glavincevski of a more comprehensive equation for estimating the number of carbon-carbon bonds in mixtures of hydrocarbons (Equation ( 2)). The authors are quite incorrect, however, in asserting that their equation is exact for mixtures of hydrocarbons. An equimolar mixture of benzene and n-hexane, for example, gives nc= 6, nH = 10, and f,,=fc,=0.5.
