The power carried by complex modes in both reciprocal and nonreciprocal boxed microstrip lines has been computed to study the nature of these modes. The computed data show that both the power associated with the superposition of a pair of complex modes in reciprocal structures and the power carried by complex modes indi¨idually in nonreciprocal structures is purely reacti¨e.
