✦ Synopsis
Detailed potcntiostatic pulse experiments were carried out with special regard to slow structural transformations involved in the underpotential deposition (UPD) of thallium on a Ag(ll1) single crystal surface in sulfate solutions. The observed monotonous and non-monotonous current-time transients are interpreted by a diffusioncontrolled adsorption model taking into account theexperimental (T!Ecj-isotherm of the system. Independent of the prepolarization conditions no indication of a dominant 2D nucleation in the kinetics of the UPPprocess was found Surface reconstruction phenomena were supported by pulse experiments after long-time prepolarization at a defined potential where slow structural transformations have been observed.
