## Abstract In the present study anodic oxidation of iridium layer formed thermally on a gold‐sputtered quartz crystal electrode has been investigated by electrochemical quartz crystal microgravimetry (EQCM) in the solutions of 0.5 M H~2~SO~4~ and 0.1 M KOH. The emphasis here has been put on the mi

✦ Synopsis
The amidic formation of mercurous oxalate on mercury was studied at various pH and oxalic acid concentrations under potentiodynamic conditions. The application of different diagnostic criteria derived for deposition processes allowed us to observe a simple nucleation/growth process in HClO, media (OPD) and an adsorption/nucleation process at pH > p&i of the oxalic acid (UPD).

The successive C-H bond dissociation energies of CH,, &Hz. C2H4, and H&O (ketene) are determined using large basis sets and a high level of correlation treatment. For CHI, C2H2, and C2H4 the computed values are in excellent agreement with experiment. Using our results we recommend 107.9 +2.0 and 96.
## Abstract The behaviour of steels with (%) 17.3 Cr, 5.3 Ni, 0.3–13.9 Mn during potentiodynamic polarization k tests is comparable to that of 18 8 CrNi steels. Sharp peaks are found in the polarization curves; they correspond to the dissolution of the iron base: This region is followed by a passiv
