Abstract

After a general review of the most important antagonisms between magnesium and other cations, some special results from intensive pot experiments concerning the K/Mg antagonism are discussed. It is shown that it is only in soils absolutely deficient in Mg that the K/Mg antagonism has to be considered in respect to practical fertilisation. It is important to correct a deficiency in soil‐magnesium by application of magnesium fertiliser.
