## Abstract Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) is a newly defined clinical and pathologic entity. This study examines the whole population‐based incidence of GIST as well as pathologic risk stratification schemes. All patients diagnosed in Iceland with a gastrointestinal mesenchymal tumor over t
