โฆ Synopsis
In this paper, Pontryagin's principle is proved for a fairly general problem of optimal control of populations with continuous time and age variable. As a consequence, maximum principles are developed for an optimal harvesting problem and a problem of optimal birth control.

We consider the control problem for a population dynamics model with age dependence, spatial structure, and a nonlocal birth process arising as a boundary condition. We examine the controllability at a given time T and show that approximate controllability holds for every fixed finite time T. As a c
The boundary problems for an elastic wedge and a cone in statics and dynamics are investigated with special emphasis on Saint Venant's principle. The exact analytical solutions are obtained by integral transform technique and the far-field asymptotics is obtained.
