Abstract
The condensation of N,Nβ²βdiaminopiperazine with methylenebis(4βphenyl isothiocyanate) proceeded easily in dimethyl sulfoxide solution to give a high molecular weight, soluble, polythiosemicarbazide (I).

In agreement with the known behavior of monomeric thiosemicarbazides, the polymer reacted readily with various metal ions to give metallic chelates. These chelates did not have the expected thermal stability, however.
