Abstract

Transparent film materials with excellent mechanical and thermal properties were elaborated by drying a latex suspension of armored polymer/Laponite composite particles. Low‐temperature TEM observation of ultrathin cross‐sections of the films indicated a unique network morphology characterized by a β€œhoneycomb” distribution of the Laponite platelets remindful of the original particles morphology.

In this work, butyl acrylate and styrene were used as monomers in the first stage and second stage of polymerization, respectively, and potassium persulfate (K 2 S 2 O 8 ) was used as the initiator to synthesize the poly(butyl acrylate) -polystyrene (PBA/PS) composite latex by the method of two-stag
