Polymerizations of methyl methacrylate (MMA), vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile or styrene (St) initiated by methyl derivatives of Ti(IV) are consistent with a radical process. This conclusion is supported by tacticities of the resulting polymers which are close to those for conventional radical samples

A simple method is described for the preparation of pure, dry alcohols, tritiated in the hydroxyl group. The polymerization of acrylonitrile initiated by tetrakis(dimethylamido)titanium(IV) has been terminated by quenching with tritiated isopropanol at varying reaction times, and the radioactivity o
~et--The photoinitiated polymerization of methyl methacrylate by triethyl-aluminium is shown to occur by a free radical mechanism, initiated by a photoexcited state of a 1 : I Wittig '-ate' complex between MMA and Et3AJ. A survey of related compounds shows that only monomers having an unsaturated g
