โฆ Synopsis
Acrylic acid was polymerized in aqueous medium using the peroxy salts Na,S,O,, (NH,),S,O,, and KIO, as initiators. Of those salts, Na,S,O, proved to he the most advantageous. Detailed investigations of the polymerization process were carried out with Na,S,O, alone and with different reductants, namely, Na,S,03 * 5 H,O, C,Hl,06, and K,S205.
The el'fects of the concentrations of oxidant, reductant, monomer, degree of neutralization, polymerization time, and temperature were studied.

## Abstract The polymerization of acrylic acid by the redox system ammonium persulphate/sodium sulphite was studied under a variety of conditions. The obtained results indicate that the total conversion is determined by the concentrations of (NH~4~)~2~S~2~O~8~ and Na~2~SO~3~, as well as by the degr
