✦ Synopsis

The effects of some commercial polymeric additives on the nucleation (induction period), crystal growth, and morphology of hytlroxyapatite precipitated from pure solutions of the lattice ions have been ex;tmined. The inhibitory capacities of these additives for hydroxyapatite scale formed from whole juice samples under conditions similar to those operating in sugar mills have also been determined. The results show that poly(aspartic acid) with M, of 5700 is the most effective scale inhibitor.

## Abstract In this research, we improved densification, hardness, and compression strength of synthetic hydroxyapatite (HAp) ceramics by introducing small quantities of MgO‐CaO‐P~2~O~5~‐Na~2~O‐based sintering additives. Biological properties of HAp were not altered by this procedure. Phase analyse

The adsorption of two polyelectrolytes, poly-L-Glutamate and poly-L-Aspartate, on hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystals was studied both experimentally and theoretically. Langmuir adsorption isotherms were obtained for both these molecules, with binding constants K = 6 x 10(6) and 3 x 10(6) M-1, respectivel
