β¦ Synopsis
The ~13-Co cluster PhCCo3(CO)9 was anchored to poly(benzyldiphenyl-phosphine styrene) (LI) and poly(benzyldiphenyl-arsine styrene) (L2). IR spectra showed that the carbonyl stretching bands of ,13-PhCC03(CO)8 were shifted to low frequencies for PhCCo/CO)gL 1 (I1) and PhCCo3(CO)8L2 ( 111) compared with those for the parent cluster PhCCo3(CO)9 (I). The XPS data suggest that the Co(2P3/2 ) binding energies (Eb) in H and IIl were lowered, being 781.3 eV in I, 780.4 eV in II and 780.6 eV in III. The catalytic hydroformylation of 1-heptene per-second per-tool Co of 11I was substantially higher than those of II and I. In comparison the n / iso ratio and the aldehyde and alcohol selectivity were increased using the polymer-supported clusters II and IIl compared with the original cluster (I).
