✦ Synopsis
The polymer-solvent interaction parameter, Xt2, was determined for poly(4hydroxystyrene) (P4HS) at 443 and 463 K, by inverse gas chromatography (IGC) using several probes. The partial molar heat of mixing at infinite dilution in the polymer was also calculated. The solubility parameter ~2 of P4HS has been obtained by using the method developed by DiPaola-Baranyi and Guillet. Moreover using the equation-of-state theory the contact interaction energy, X12, was also determined. The variation of the interaction parameters were correlated with the size and kinds of atoms present in the molecules.
