✦ Synopsis
A~tract--Poly(ester-anhydride)s were prepared by cocondensation of terephthalic acid and 4-hydroxybenzoic acid with acetic anhydride under four different reaction conditions. Three cocondensations of terephthalic acid and 6-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid were also performed. WAXS and DSC measurements demonstrate that all samples are more or less crystalline depending on the reaction conditions. Most samples form freely flowing nematic melts but, when MgO was used as catalyst, crosslinks seemingly prevent the formation of a mobile melt.
