โฆ Synopsis
The application of ultrafiltration in the electrophoretic coating of metals consists in the realization of problems resulting from the retention of colloidal particles of paint by the membrane and the permeation of water and other low-molecular substances.
A laboratory set-up of ultrafiltration apparatus with tubular polyacrylonitrile and polyvinyl chloride membranes was employed. Investigations were carried out using two kinds of anaphoretic paints: white acrylic enamel and black polybutadiene paint.
In the first stage of investigation the optimal pressure within the range 0.05-0.3 MPa was determined and in the second the optimal linear velocity within the range l-4 m/s. l pressure: 0.1 MPa l linear velocity of the emulsion: 3 m/s l temperature: 290-295 K 10. The permeate obtained during the UF of emulsions can be used for the rinsing of metal elements after electrocoating.
