FLORIDA COUNTY ORDINANCE AMENDED TO ENCOMPASS INTERNET SOLICITATIONS
he Pinellas County Board of County Commis-T sioners, on July 1 1, amended the county's code regulating charitable solicitations to include solicitations by means of the Internet. A charitable organization that receives contributions from a citizen ofthe county must return the gifts within 30 days if it is not in compliance with this law. This ordinance will be discussed in greater detail next month. In the meantime, we share the thought of Lee Cassidy, executive director of the National Federation of Nonprofits, who observed of the commissioners: "These people are not connected to reality" (St. Petersburg Times, July 9). 1 I

s noted last month, the legislation (H.R. 4762) A to require political organizations (IRC ยง 527 entities) to disclose their funding and activities was signed into law on July 1 (P.L. 106-230). Generally, this law took effect on that date. Here is what this new legislation is all about.
