✦ Synopsis
Several indirect analytical methods are available for the determination of carbonyl compounds, most of which utilize additive or condensation properties of these compounds. Direct volumetric determinations are less common, because carbonyl compounds are mostly neutral substances, which eliminates the possibility of acid-base titrations, and oxidation-reduction reactions with common agents occur too slowly to be useful for direct titrations. We have already reviewed the possibilities for the * We thank Mr. J. DOLNIK Of the National Enterprise Aroma Prague, for letting us have a number of carbonyl compounds.
