Abstract

The sampling method of polarographic analysis for dissolved oxygen in culture medium is unaffected by the presence of viable micro‐organisms. This method allows measurement of peak oxygen demand, critical oxygen concentration, and oxygen supply during actual mass propagation of an aerobic culture. Fermentation operating conditions may be adjusted to supply the oxygen required by the aerobic culture.
