โฆ Synopsis
The polarographic reduction behaviour of 4-arylhydrazon~2-ioxazoline-S-onus has been investigated to find out the existing tautomeric form. The behaviour suggests the presence of hydruzo form. The effect of various suhstituents on reduction has been studied and a quantitative relationship established between E,,, and Hammett substituent constant. INTUODUffION A number of isoxazoles[1,2] and isoxazolines[3-6] have been reported in the literature to possess considerable hypoglycemic activity. Recently some 4arylhydrazono-Z-isoxazohne-5-ones have been synthesized in this laboratory and their activity reported[7]. These compounds can exist in the following four tautomeric forms: R
