β¦ Synopsis
The polarographic reduction of 1-phenyl-3-amino%rylazo-pyrazole-5-one and its arylazo substituted derivatives is studied in Britton-Robinson buffers (pH 3-IO), containing 40Β°k dimethyl formamide. The compounds exhibit a single wave in acidic solutions and two waves in alkaline solutions. A plausible mechanism has been suggested on the basis of number of protons and electrons involved in the reduction.
