β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
Measurement of the polarization resistance of Fe, Ni, 8% Cr stell and CrNi stell 18 8 reveals that the corrosion rate increase as the SO~3~ partial pressure in the gas phase is increased. While a protective layer appears to be formed in alloyed steel in neutral melts (a fact which is reflected in an increase of the polarization resistance) no such layer can be identified on Fe and Ni. Addition of NiSO~4~ to the SO~3~ partial pressure; this effect is probably due to a thermal decomposition of a salt. The exact correlation of weight loss and polarization resistance requires, however, more detailed investigation.

## Abstract Potentiodynamic polarization measurements have been employed to evaluate the anodic behavior of a type 310S stainless steel in the eutectic Li/K molten carbonate. In general, the electrochemical tests yield useful information to predict the stability of the oxide films formed on the sur
The effect of sodium fluoride on the polarization resistance of titanium was investigated. Titanium plates were exposed to sodium chloride solutions with increasing fluoride concentrations. This was done at pH 7 and 4 at 37 "C. The polarization resistance technique was chosen because it is the only
