โœฆ Synopsis

Polarimetric calibration is mandatory for obtaining an accurate scattering matrix in full polarimetric radar systems. Polarimetric errors come from misalignment of the antenna system, system error inherent to the antenna pattern, and so on. For polarimetric calibration of the radar system, a theoretically known target is used. However, the scattering characteristics depend on the type of target under test. In this paper, a corrugated parallel plate target is proposed for polarimetric calibration. This target has a large RCS and acts as a linear wire target. The advantages of the proposed target are wide-band characteristics and a large RCS. The characteristics are confirmed by FD-TD analysis and a calibration experiment using an FMCW radar.
