✦ Synopsis


paper presents a model to evaluate the plastic zone size at the crack tip using mechanical properties of the material and loading conditions (Mode I). The parameter U controlling the effects of residual deformations has been incorporated. The model was found to compare well with Antolovich's model with crack growth extension data for 2024-T3 aluminum alloy.
