✦ Synopsis

Abstract

Quantitative order of the band gap of Li, Na, K, and Rb halides is calculated using the plasma oscillation theory of solids. The present method is not limited to binary or ternary compounds but can be used for all the semiconducting and insulating compounds. The calculated values are in excellent agreement with the observed and calculated values of different workers.
