β¦ Synopsis
Substrate potential, plasma-po1ymerized hexamethy1disiloxane (PPHMDS) film adhesion strength, partial discharge characteristics, and lifespans of composite films exposed to partial discharges in a sphere-plane electrode system were investigated. Composite films were prepared in a triode glow discharge system by coating the surfaces of polytetraf1uoroethy1ene (PTFE) films with PPHMDS films. The GleitbΓΌsche1 starting voltage, V g , and the lifespan of composite films in partial discharge test electrode systems were higher than those of PTFE films. The increase of V g and lifespans are attributed to the remarkable decrease in the surface resistivity of the films caused by the coating of PPHMDS.
