β¦ Synopsis
A porous carbon cloth is treated with an Hz plasma both before and after air activation. The main action of the plasma appears to be a reduction in fibre diameter with no apparent change in surface morphology. Changes in pore structure, as followed by water vapor adsorption and enthalpy of immersion measurements, indicate that the plasma does not reach the smaller pores.
The action of a CO? plasma is similar in nature to that of the HI plasma but gross changes in fibre mo~hology are observed.
