โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
Knowledge of plankton biogeography for the Indian and adjacent seas is necessary for an understanding of the regional characteristics and changes in the plankton composition. Some of the plankters will serve as good biogeographical indicator species. Some phytoplankters and tintinnids among zooplankton are promising for use as such labels for the presence of different waters in the Porto Novo (Coromandel coast, Bay of Bengal) region. A biogeographical classification of the local phytoplankton and peculiarities in the distribution of some rare tintinnids occurring there are discussed.

## Abstract The records of the marine cladoceran __Penilia avirostris__ DANA in the Indian Ocean are discussed as a further contribution to studies on the features of its world distribution. The review has pointed out different aspects of the life cycle of the species and the influence of biologica
Toads of the Bufo peltocephalus Group (Anura: Bufonidae) occur throughout the Greater Antilles (Cuba to the Virgin Islands), a geographic region of relatively high endemicity. Previous morphological and immunological studies suggested that the West Indian toads are a monophyletic lineage derived fro
This paper examines the relationships between Indian rainfall and the sea-surface temperature anomalies (SSTA) in different areas, including the Arabian Sea, the equatorial Indian Ocean, the southern Indian Ocean and the equatorial eastern Pacific. Their relationships have clear temporal and spatial
The satellite derived outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) over the Indian Ocean (30ยฐN -30ยฐS and 40ยฐE -100ยฐE) from 1974 to 1996 has been analysed for the relationship with the Indian summer monsoon total (June -September) rainfall. The OLR of two regions appears to be related to summer monsoon rainfall
