Abstract
It is shown that a section of the square planar monopole may be removed without significantly effecting antenna impedance or radiation performance. The proposed antenna forms a U‐shaped monopole and offers lower weight, wind resistance, and cost. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
