✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A novel planar inverted‐F antenna (PIFA) with a large hollow shorting cylinder suitable for integration with an embedded digital camera for a mobile phone is proposed. A design example of the proposed PIFA for application in a UMTS (1920–2170 MHz) mobile phone is demonstrated. The antenna design and experimental results are presented and discussed. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract This article presents a novel design method for a wideband planar inverted F‐antenna that simultaneously covers GSM900, GPS, DCS1800, IMT2000, WLAN, and DMB services. The proposed antenna consisted of a main patch with stubs, an I‐shaped patch, and a modified shorting strip. It had dime

## Abstract By bending a planar monopole into an inverted‐U shape and short‐circuiting one end to the ground, a novel low‐profile monopole antenna with reduced backward radiation is obtained. The proposed antenna is easily fed by using a capacitively coupled feed, and is suitable for applications i

## Abstract A novel dual‐band monopole antenna, created by loading a meandered wire to an inverted‐L wire monopole, is proposed. The antenna is suitable for applications in GSM/DCS dual‐band mobile phones. Both the inverted‐L wire and the meandered wire operate as quarter‐wavelength structures, and
