My friend works for Motorola, and, when he heard what I do for a living, he laughed. He said, "After all this time, you're still with thegas company?" The contempt dripped from his words. While he was busy developing wireless Internet access, I was still tending the plumbing, working for an industry that physically does the same thing it was doing 50 years ago. Even my title did not impress him, since he is in an industry in which one can often make up a title-emperor, czar, supreme commander, maharajah, whatever.
