We present a complete and a simplified discussion of the scattering of acoustic, electromagnetic and earthquake SH waves by various shapes such as in&rite cylinders, strips, slits, cracks, cavities, and semiinfinite planes. Formulas are derived for the velocity potentials, electromagnetic fields, displacement fields, far-field amplitudes, scattering cross sections, stresses, and dynamic stress intensity factors.
