β¦ Synopsis
Abstract
The synthesis of a new class of piezoelectrically active materials comprised of various coβ and terβpolymers of tributyltin methacrylate (TBTM) and trimethyltin methacrylate (TMTM) are described. In this article films of the various polymer compositions were evaluated for tin content, glass transition temperature (T~g~), and crystallinity or βorderingβ of the amorphous phase. A brief theory of piezoelectricity in polymers will be given in Part II with a description of sample preparation, poling techniques, and the measurement system, as well as piezoelectric evaluation results.
