Lead zirconate-titanate (PZT)/polymer composites have been prepared by in situ polymerization of styrene and methyl methacrylate around aligned, thin PZT rods. Hydrostatic piezoelectric coefficients (& and g h ) measured by a dynamic technique yielded figures of merit (&&) roughly four times that of
