✦ Synopsis

Photobleaching and absorption recovery of the fundamental state of pinacyanol have been investigated in different solvents. using a single picosecond puke. In a viscous solvent, glycerol, the recovery time constant is T = (330 c 30) ps which may be compared with the fIuorescence lifetime r = (302 f 29) ps, as measured using a stre;lk GUTI=-in the ti&t~r dd-d~. methanol or isopropanol, the Jlozter recovery time constant r < IO ps indicates a very efficient non-n&tive process, internal conversion between the two singJet states involved.
