โœฆ Synopsis

Tie-resolved emission spectra of 7-amino-3-methyl-1,4-benzoxazine-Z-one (XhlBO) are plotted in the time range 0 < r < 300 ps for various solvents. The fluorescent state of AhIBO has intramolecular chx8.e transfer (ICT) character_ A method for detailed analysis of the excited molecule-solvent time-evolving interactions is shown to be possible when probin all the "intermediate states". An important hydrogen-bonding contribution. due to a large change of charge density in the ICT state, is observed and its development in time is analyscd.

## Introduction Hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) are of great importance in biological systems, as they are responsible for the secondary structure of proteins and nucleic acids and are also involved in the mechanisms of enzyme catalysis. Supramolecular chemistry makes use of H-bonds in building up novel
